Your privacy matters
I believe in complete transparency about how Zishu handles your data. The short version: Zishu doesn't collect any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
What Zishu collects
Nothing. Zishu operates entirely offline and stores all data locally on your device. There are no servers, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
What stays on your device
- Your learning progress and statistics
- Custom character sets you create
- Your practice history
- App preferences and settings
- Any backups you create
All of this data is stored locally using your device's storage. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it for backup purposes.
Third-party services
Zishu doesn't use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app works completely offline once downloaded.
Data export and import
You can export your data as a file for backup or to move to a new device. This export happens entirely on your device: the data goes directly from the app to your chosen storage location.
Tips
The optional tip jar uses Apple's standard in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment; Zishu never sees your payment details. Nothing in the app is locked behind tipping.
Updates
App updates are delivered through the App Store, which may collect its own analytics about downloads and updates, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Children's privacy
Since Zishu doesn't collect any data, it's safe for learners of all ages. Parents can feel confident that their children's learning data stays private.
Changes to this policy
If how Zishu handles data ever changes (there are no plans for that), this policy will be updated and users will be notified through app update notes.
